SUSTAINABILITY

At Super Loco Group, we are committed to becoming more sustainable across our restaurants, whether you’re dining in with us or enjoying your favourites at home. We’ve started small, making progress over time to reduce the carbon footprint we leave behind each month, the following quarter and every year.

LOCO SUSTAINABILITY PILLARS

Carbon-Conscious Menu

We have made our menu at least 50% plant-based: adding more vegetarian and vegan dishes or offering options for regular dishes in place, to turn them so upon request. Keen to compare the true environmental impact of your food choices? Scan the QR code on our menus to check out the carbon footprint of each dish!

Zero Plastic

The war on plastic straws is on. All single-use plastic straws have been replaced with fully biodegradable ones from Código 1530, made with agave cellulose fibers upcycled from tequila production to use in drinks that do require a straw. Our delivery packaging is also fully compostable, created from Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) responsibly sourced certified paper and plant-based bioplastic lining that returns to the ground as nutrient-rich compost for the earth, eliminating an estimated 4,500kg of annual plastic waste.

Tree Adoption

We’ve partnered up with reforestation technology start-up Green Steps to aid reforestation efforts across Borneo’s endangered rainforests and minimise the carbon impact of our restaurants. As of 2022, we’ve planted 1,589 trees, reducing 34,958 kg of atmospheric carbon dioxide. Jump on the frontline with us and adopt a tree today for $6: we’ll match each adoption by planting another one of our own.

Filtered Water

We’ve scrapped imported bottled water and with it, an annual glass waste of 9,000 kg and 5 tonnes of carbon emissions from transportation. By offering our guests unlimited still or sparkling filtered water at $1 per person, a portion of the proceeds goes towards planting trees in our Loco Forest.

Regionally Sourced Produce

Most of our vegetables are sourced locally from a sustainably certified regional farm and individually picked to ensure only the freshest produce makes it to our kitchen.

Sustainably-Farmed Barramundi

Protecting our oceans is important to us. Our barramundi is sustainably sourced from local open-sea fishery farm Kuhlbarra, where our finned friends frolic in large, open-sea pens of pristine, oxygen-rich waters.

Free-Range Chickens

Our non-GMO certified and antibiotic-free chickens are sourced from an ethical farm 40 minutes outside of Singapore, where they are free to roam and cluck to their hearts’ content.

ecoSPIRITS

90% of our bar spirits are delivered to our bars in reusable eco-totes from ecoSPIRITS, eliminating 3,600 kg of unnecessary packaging waste each year during the premium spirits supply chain process.

As a response to a number of challenges encountered in our sustainability journey as a small F&B business, and in the spirit of sharing our own learnings with industry peers, we formed the F&B Sustainability Council comprising of operators, suppliers and hoteliers. With the intention of holding quarterly roundtables where members can set and strive towards their own sustainability targets, while supporting one another by pooling resources, sharing best practices, brainstorming challenges and lobbying support through our collective impact. Spearheaded by Super Loco Group, the members of the council includes:
